Overview:

The following lesson engages students in a hands-on activity that will introduce them to the field of paleontology. Students excavate a mock fossil site created by the teacher and have to identify the “fossils” that they uncover using references such as field guides. The students also have to draw a scale map of their fossil site and share their findings with other students.
